how do i change a fraction to a decimal? i really don't understand the movement of the decimal.

divide the numerator by the denominator.
example 1/2 = .5

In above example, divide the 1 by 2, which goes zero times. Then you have to go to the tenths column, with the decimal placed after the one. 2 goes into 10 5 times, giving you .5
