One cell divides into two cells through a process called cell division. This process is called mitosis and it involves several steps:

2. The duplicated chromosomes condense and align in the center of the cell.
3. The cell then divides into two daughter cells, each containing one complete set of chromosomes.
4. The daughter cells then grow and go through their own cycles of cell division, continuing the process of cellular reproduction.
This process allows for growth, repair, and maintenance of tissues in multicellular organisms, as well as for the production of new cells in unicellular organisms.
