How did Octavian avenge Caesar’s death?
1 answer
Octavian avenged Caesar's death by forming the Second Triumvirate with Mark Antony and Marcus Aemilius Lepidus. Together, they waged a series of civil wars against the assassins and the supporters of Caesar's murderers. In the Battle of Philippi in 42 BC, they defeated the forces of Brutus and Cassius, the main conspirators in Caesar's assassination. Octavian and Antony then turned on each other in another civil war, which Octavian ultimately won, securing him as the sole ruler of Rome.
