How can i make hg2i2 in laboratory
1 answer
Add an aqueous solution of KBr to an aqueous solution of Hg2Cl2, stir, filter. Wash the ppt with distilled H2O several times. Note that Hg2Cl2 is not very soluble but Hg2I2 is much much less soluble. I highly suggest adult supervision because of the extreme toxicity of Hg and Hg salts. This is not something to be cavalier about. The consequences of mercury poisoning are severe with non-reversible outcomes.
