Copyright and fair use are related in that they both involve the use of copyrighted material. Fair use is a legal doctrine that allows for limited use of copyrighted material without permission from the copyright owner, under certain circumstances such as for purposes of criticism, commentary, news reporting, teaching, scholarship, or research. Copyright, on the other hand, grants the creator of original work exclusive rights to use and distribute their work. So, fair use is a limitation on the exclusive rights granted by copyright law.
