Babies are made through a process called sexual reproduction. When a man and a woman have sexual intercourse, sperm from the man's body is released into the woman's vagina. If a sperm successfully fertilizes an egg that is present in the woman's reproductive system, conception occurs. The fertilized egg then implants in the woman's uterus and begins to develop into a baby over a period of approximately nine months.
