Hold it close to your heart

Protect it with your life
Nurture it with your love
Bathe it in pure water
Dry it with soft towels
Dress it tenderly in sparkling clothes
Feed it with nourishing food
Sing it to sleep with sweet, sweet lullabies
Soothe its cries with comforting caresses
Hold, protect, nurture, bathe, dry, dress, feed, sing, soothe
This is what a mother does and must always do

Preparing for a Trip

Preparing for a lengthy trip is a big task. Once the destination has been chosen and travel arrangements have been made, other plans must be finalized. Who will check the mail? Who will water the plants? These are the types of preparations that have to be completed prior to the trip. First, travelers should decide if they are going to be gone long enough for the post office to hold the mail. If the post office will not hold the mail, it is a good idea to ask a friend or neighbor to collect the mail. Next, perhaps this same friend, or neighbor would be willing to water the plants and yard while the homeowner is away. Another major arrangement that may have to be made is finding a caregiver for a pet. Many veterinarians offer boarding for pets. It may be more affordable to pay a relative or friend to keep the pet. Next, travelers should notify a trusted friend or relative of their whereabouts during the trip and contact information in the case something unforeseeable happens. Also, travelers that are not driving to their destination must make advanced arrangements to be taken to the airport, train station, etc. Then, clothes and supplies must be organized and packed. It is a smart idea to research what the weather will be like during the trip. Travelers should make a list of the outfits they will wear for the different activities on their itinerary. Then they need to launder the outfits and pack them in a suitcase. Underwear, footwear, and pajamas should be included. Travelers will also need toiletries, such as a toothbrush and toothpaste. Toiletries should be packed in a sealed bag in case they leak. On the day of the trip, or the night before the trip, travelers should throw away any food that might spoil and take the trash out of the house. No one wants to return to a stench-filled home. Finally, travelers need to make sure that their home is secured. All windows and outer doors should be closed and locked. If travelers follow these steps to prepare for a trip, they will have peace of mind and be able to concentrate on having a good time.
