In a small village in Russia, a group of children played hide and seek. One boy named Ivan was known for always being the best hider, able to blend into any surroundings and remain unseen for hours.
As the children counted and searched for Ivan, he found the perfect hiding spot - a hollow tree trunk deep in the forest. He squeezed himself inside and listened as the other children searched nearby, calling his name.
Hours passed, and still no one found Ivan. The sun began to set, and the children started to worry. They searched the entire village, but there was no sign of him.
Ivan, feeling proud of his hiding spot, decided to stay inside the tree trunk until morning. But as night fell, he heard strange noises outside, whispers in the wind and rustling in the trees.
Afraid, Ivan tried to squeeze his way out of the tree trunk, but he was stuck. Panicking, he called out for help, but no one answered.
The next morning, the children found Ivan still trapped inside the tree trunk, pale and weak. They pulled him out, and he told them about the strange noises he heard during the night.
The villagers believed Ivan had been visited by the spirits of the forest, angry that he had hidden in their sacred tree. From that day on, Ivan never played hide and seek again, fearful of what might be lurking in the shadows.
