Since this is not my area of expertise, I searched Google under the key words "earthquake wave" to get these possible sources:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Seismic_wave
http://www.geo.mtu.edu/UPSeis/waves.html
http://www.seismo.unr.edu/ftp/pub/louie/class/100/seismic-waves.html

I hope this helps. Thanks for asking.

Thank you for using the Jiskha Homework Help Forum. How interesting that you say it is NOT a Tsunami. Here is something from the Tsunami Website on how this wave is caused:

What is a tsunami?
A tsunami (pronounced tsoo-nah-mee) is a wave train, or series of waves, generated in a body of water by an impulsive disturbance that vertically displaces the water column. Earthquakes, landslides, volcanic eruptions, explosions, and even the impact of cosmic bodies, such as meteorites, can generate tsunamis. Tsunamis can savagely attack coastlines, causing devastating property damage and loss of life.
