start on the left end of the field ... 4.6 billion years (ago)

mark in the periods and eras based on when they started and stopped

each 10 yards is 460 million years ... each yard is 46 million years

FYI ... our genus "" has been around for about 2 inches
modern humans "homo sapiens" (us) ... a quarter of an inch
