Hi! Can I get your input on this?

"With skis on poples in hand, Nate inched toward the ski lift. He felthis hands grip the poles tighter and tighter with every shuffle. Would he be able to catch a ride without falling? Nate stood in place and waited for the moving seat to arrive. With a gentle nudge, it scooped him up and took him to meet the blue-eyed sky."

Which statment best describes the last sentence of this paragraph?

A: It uses figurative language to vary tht style and affect the tone.
B: It uses figurative language that interrups the flow.
C: It varies the sentence structure and makes the paragraph harder to read.
D: It varies the sentence structure while maintaning the tone. (What I think.)

Again I think it's D but we didn't learn about figurative language yet so the question is a little bit out of the blue.

Read about figurative language here:

Then rethink your answer, please.
So it looks like it is figurative language because it says "it scooped him up and took him to meet the blue-eyed sky." So now I think that the answer is A because it uses figurative language to vary the style but it's confusing because it says that it, "affects the tone." I just seems that the tone throughout is the same besides the figurative language???
"With skis on poles in hand, Nate inched toward the ski lift. He felt his hands grip the poles tighter and tighter with every shuffle. Would he be able to catch a ride without falling? Nate stood in place and waited for the moving seat to arrive. [<~~Up to here, the tone seems to be hesitant or nervous. But the last sentence lightens up a bit (scooped him up), probably because his nervousness went away once the ski lift caught him.~~>] With a gentle nudge, it scooped him up and took him to meet the blue-eyed sky."

Yes, A.
Thank you very much for your help! Have a great weekend!
