Your nonuse of grouping symbols may be the issue.
f(x)=(x-1)/(x+5)
well, f(x)=(x-1)/(x+5)
(x+5)f=x-1
fx+5f=x-1
x(f-1)=-5f-1
g(x-1)=-5x-1
g= (-5x-1)/(x-1)
so this is the inverse, perhaps you cant get it because your g(x) is not the inverse.
Help please! I can't seem to get x as the answer to prove that they are inverses of each other!
Show what f and g are inverse functions algebraically
f(x)= x-1/x+5 g(x)= -5x+1/x-1
