An object is located 51 mm from a diverging lens. The object has a height of 13 mm and the image height is 3.5 mm. How far in front of the lens is the image located?

A. 1.12mm

Solve this:

|Do/Di| = magnification = |3.5/13|
= 0.269

I use absolute value signs because Di, the image location, is actually negative, since the image is on the same side of the lens as the object.

Since Do = 51, Di = 0.269*51 = 13.7 mm
