if a clock chimes the number of the hour every hour, how many times will it chime in a day?

it goes through the sequence of chimes from 1-12 twice during the day.

The sum of all the numbers from 1 to n is n(n+1)/2

So, the clock chimes

2 * (12*13)/2 = 156 times
