"Is that Mom? Is she clapping?" whispered a red-faced Celia to Melanie as she began to wonder if their mother had forgotten to look at the program book before the performance.
"Didn't we remind her that it isn't proper etiquette to applaud before a piece finishes?" replied Melanie, distracted from playing her cello.
"She is going to distract all the string musicians at the front," sulked Celia as she forgot a note on her viola.
As soon as Celia missed the note, the first violin player gasped and stared at both the sisters. Soon, the distracted woodwind players started discussing the skipped note in hushed voices.
The conductor, who was now fully aware of the commotion, stopped moving his baton and loudly shushed the side-tracked musicians.
