Try this.
Write the atomic number first. Follow with element symbol. Follow by mass number. So this would start with
98Cf251 ==> Y + X. Finish and I can help fill it in.
To make the equation balance the left numbers add up on both sides. The top number adds up on both sides. For example, here is a balanced equation showing an alpha emission.
92U238 ==> 90Th234 + 2He4
Note that the left number adds up; i.e., 02 on left and 90 + 2 on the right of the equation. Tje right number on the left is 238 and that adds up to 234 + 4 on the right side.
