Greetings to the masses at large and the EC. I am Kgothatso Khanyisile Khanye a
prospective candidate for Sports, Health and Wellness 2025
I believe that my definition of leadership really fits that of the institution as it is more
about guidance and implementation of policies. It is about growing the residence
space you live in, ensuring that the first entering students and seniors are well
integrated within the house & institution through sports.
Currently I am serving as the Mentor Sports of House Kestell and I believe that the
leadership accolades I have acquired, along with the passion I have would make me
fit for this portfolio and they would work well with the training that the institution
has to offer with regards to leadership.
VISION
As a prospective RC candidate for this portfolio, my vision is:
To foster the successful transition of first entering students in the university life
through sports and the gateway program set by the institution.
To maintain and build on the momentum that the house has acquired from being
active through informal sporting events.
Through health and wellness, to facilitate growth among individuals as each person
strives to be a better version of themselves. To be impactful when it comes to nurturing and growing individuals who desire to
be athletes.
To promote versatility in the house by allowing and exposing house members to
different sporting codes.
Resonating with the value of sisterhood and the portfolio of health and wellness, I
seek to foster a residence space that strives on embracing femininity and the self￾growth amongst house members by introducing “Girls Talk Series”
MISSION
My mission for the house; is to keep it as united as it is through sports. This will be
achieved by creating an atmosphere where sisterhood is nurtured and grown
through informal in-house sporting events.
My goal is to produce athletes within the house, people who are passionate about
sports as well as those want further to purse it. Also, collaborating with other
residences that have experience in sports will not only raise the banner of House
Kestell, but it will encourage individuals to who are interested in sports to be more
confident in themselves and expose them to new things.
Furthermore, I seek to produce a sustainable foundation of leadership within my
portfolio, ensuring that the vision of my predecessor is acknowledged while
making sure that my vision is well implemented. The aim is to bring new
innovative ideas that will sustain the portfolio, making it easier for the next
generation to build on to something.
I want to foster the physical, mental, and emotional health and wellness of the house.
Thus, I am willing to be actively involved in taking care of the house members by helping them tackle the issues they have and act as their pillar during tough times.
With the help of Student Counselling and Development [SCD] and the professionals
that the institution has provided us with.
In the physical sense, I want to encourage the house to be more active, through fun
and carefree activities that will also help you relieve your mind from any
contributing stressor as well as grow interpersonal relationships in the house
Finally, with regards to emotional wellness, in reference to the “Girls Talk Series’’
I had mentioned in my vision, it is a 4-part series that will happen quarterly aimed
at tackling issues faced by young women and it also serves as a platform for self￾growth.
In conclusion, I, Kgothatso Khanyisile Khanye, believe that, together with the
selected RC team, we will have the capacity to guide the members of House Kestell
to greater lengths. We will be willing to acknowledge and consider the needs of the
house members and help them as they embark on their educational journey and
university life. I have no doubt that I will lead with synergy, where I work together
with my colleagues to produce the desired outcome of what we envision in the
resident space. With the support of all the structures in the house, develop a platform
where house members can express their thoughts to help the RCs establish and
improve the calibre of the residence leadership. I'll see to it that the RC Team and I
work effectively together and redefine leadership in the house.
"Before you are a leader, success is all about growing yourself. When
you become a leader, success is all about growing others."
