Ordered pairs are pairs of values of x and y that satisfy a given equation or a function. It is presented in the order x,y and eclosed in parentheses, as in (x,y).
For the equation y=5x-8, the value of x=0 gives the value of y=-8, so (0,-8) is an ordered pair.
This ordered pair happens to be the y-intercept, i.e. the point where the line intersects the y-axis, characterized by x=0.
To get other (arbitrary) ordered pairs, substitute different values of x into the equation, and put the pair of x and y values in parentheses.
from the looks of things I am in good company when it comes to having problems solving algebra equations. I hope you can help with this one I have been working on for two days and still don't understand.
I need ordered pairs for y=5x-8 and the y intercept. my pairs are (-4,0) (3,0)which may be wrong. Can you help?
