from m previous post. I don't know if I can put the information from my text into my own words because it says the facts and that's it theres no extra to paraphrase

If you cannot paraphrase and cite, then you must quote and cite.

Read through the examples here. Only Sample D is done correctly. Make sure you understand the differences between D and the others.

so I can copy the text right from the book as long as I put quotation marks. how do I cite it? say the name of my book? thanks for the help,Im just not very good at writing papers and such. this one is just difficult for me because it says all I need in the text but if I write it down I would be plagerizing.

It won't be plagiarizing if you follow the explanations and examples given in this website:

Just use the column on the left as the table of contents. Hold your cursor over the words CITING SOURCES and then click on Book or whatever type of resource you are using.

You need to have the book, magazine, website, or whatever your source is cited in TWO places:

1. the Works Cited page that is placed after the last page of your paper, and
2. in parentheses in the text of your paper
, immediately after the quotation or paraphrase.

For example, for a website, this will go on the Works Cited page with proper indentation for the second and following lines:

Du Bois, W.E.B. The Souls of Black Folk. Chicago, 1903. Project Bartleby. Ed. Steven van Leeuwen. Dec. 1995. Columbia U. 2 Dec. 2003
<www.cc.columbia.edu/acis/bartleby/dubois/>.

... and this will go immediately after the quotation or whatever:
(Du Bois)

The information in parentheses in the text needs to be as brief as possible. That's why there's a Works Cited page – for all the details of the listing.
