For this research project, the primary research method used was conducting an interview with the Tswelopele res former Human rights ambassador, who works closely with Dr Claire Westman. Due to the unavailability of Dr Claire Westman for an interview, the Tswelopele res former Human rights ambassador was considered a suitable alternative due to their close working relationship with Dr Westman.
The interview was conducted using open-ended questions to allow for a detailed and comprehensive discussion about their involvement in the anti-gender-based violence campaign and their perspectives on the movement. Before the interview, ethical considerations were made to ensure the confidentiality and privacy of the interviewee. The interviewee also requested that their identity not be shared in the research.
The interview was conducted in a face-to-face setting to allow for a more personal and in-depth conversation. Notes were taken during the interview to record key points and insights shared by the interviewee. Due to the sensitive nature of the topic, care was taken to create a safe and open environment for the interviewee to share their perspectives and experiences.
One of the difficulties encountered during the interview process was the limited availability of the interviewee, which required scheduling flexibility to accommodate their busy schedule. However, this was resolved by finding a convenient time for both parties to conduct the interview. Overall, the interview process was successful in gathering valuable insights and perspectives on the anti-gender-based violence campaign from a key figure within the movement.
