For this assignment, I have to compare and contrast two songs I enjoy and use at least 3 poetic devices. The songs I have chosen are "Rewrite the Stars" from the movie The Greatest Showman and "Something Just Like This" by The Chainsmokers and Coldplay. So far, I have that "Rewrite the Stars" uses alliteration, personification, and metaphors. "Something Just Like This" uses alliteration, allusion, and repetition. I was thinking that "Something Just Like This" also uses metaphors because the whole song is comparing what they are (imperfect, not superhuman) to what they want to be (superhumanly perfect) And I need some help finding two reasons on how they are alike and unalike (one for alike and one reason for unalike) If anyone can help it would be greatly appreciated.

I have my thesis statement. "Rewrite the Stars and Something Just Like This are different as Rewrite the Stars uses personification and metaphors, it is a duet, and the chorus does not repeat itself, it changes each time, while Something Just Like This uses allusion and repetition, it is sung by one person, and the chorus repeats itself, they are also similar as they both use alliteration, both are about love, and includes opinions about the people in the song." Is this a good thesis?
No. Thesis statements must be much more focused (and far less wordy).
