For my cause and effect essay I decided to pick how I went from quitting my small town job to go work at a very busy in a big city sandwich place. This new job gave me a lot of better opportunities and the job really grew my confidence in making new friends and helped me became the person I am today. This job helped me with customer service and it helped me learn that I can work and have a fun time doing it. At first I was very nervous to look for a new job and I was scared that they workers were not going to be very nice to me. But that ended up being the furthest from the truth and this new job actually helped me find my bestest of friends and how the job really helped me grow as a person.

2.) The issues that I am going to bring up in my essay is about how nervous I was about switching jobs and also about how I was scared to move to such a bigger city then where I was from. I will also be talking about how I was thinking about how I thought the people were gonna treat me and how I was letting everything go through my head when really the people were total opposite. Another issue I will be talking about is how I was trying to deal with moving and doing school all at the sametime. Doing school and moving was very hard on me because even though I was doing on-line school it was still hard for me to find time to do school and work all at the same time. I am also going to be talking about how I was struggling with money and how my old job was not paying me enough to do school and live in my apartment all at the same time and why I had to get a new job.

3.) Some other ideas that classmates could use if they have ever moved away. You could talk about how your were moving away and how moving to a new house and dealing with a new school and how it made you feel. You can talk about how maybe finding a new job was diffcult and how more beneficial it was for you or for your family. Another one that I thought of doing could be how moving from middle/elementary to high school was and how actually it’s not that big of a deal but how your mind was making you feel. Lastly you could talk about if you have had any medicial procedures done in your life and how the after care made you feel and what you had done.

Your essay topic is both relatable and inspiring! It showcases a significant transition in your life and highlights the positive outcomes of stepping out of your comfort zone. Here are some thoughts and suggestions that could help enhance your essay:

  1. Structure and Flow: Make sure to structure your essay clearly with an introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Start with a strong thesis statement in the introduction that captures the essence of your journey from your small town job to a bustling city environment.

  2. Descriptive Language: Use vivid descriptions to illustrate your initial fears and concerns about moving and starting a new job. This will help your readers empathize with your experience. For instance, you could describe your small town's atmosphere compared to the big city and how that contrast affected you.

  3. Emotional Journey: Expand on your emotional journey in the body paragraphs. How did your feelings of nervousness evolve once you started working at the sandwich place? Sharing specific anecdotes about interactions with your new coworkers or customers could help illustrate how you overcame your initial fears.

  4. Lessons Learned: You mentioned that the job boosted your confidence and taught you about customer service. Be sure to elaborate on specific skills you developed and how they empowered you. For example, discuss a particular situation where you handled a difficult customer or made a lasting friendship with a coworker.

  5. Balancing Work and School: Since managing work and school was a challenge, describe some strategies you implemented to juggle these responsibilities effectively. Did you establish a routine? Find support systems? Sharing those details will resonate with others who are trying to balance similar commitments.

  6. Broader Themes: Consider connecting your personal experience to broader themes that others can relate to, such as the importance of taking risks, the value of community in the workplace, or the significance of personal growth through challenging times.

  7. Conclusion: In your conclusion, reflect on how far you’ve come since that initial decision to switch jobs. Highlight the friendships you’ve made, the skills you've gained, and how this experience has shaped your identity. Ending on an inspiring note will leave a lasting impression on your readers.

As for ideas for classmates, you did a great job suggesting various angles to explore! Perhaps they could focus on the impact of community support during such transitions or explore the concept of adaptability in new environments.

Overall, your essay has the potential to inspire others who may be facing similar challenges. Good luck with your writing!
