Follow these instructions to write a cover letter for a job application.
First, write the sender’s contact information, including your street address and email or phone number at the top.
Then, add the current date.
Now, on separate lines, write the inside address. This is the name of the individual you are contacting, if you know it, their job title, the name of the organization, and its address.
Next, write a formal salutation, such as “Dear Mr. Green” followed by a colon. If you don’t know an individual’s name, use the job title, such as “Dear Hiring Manager.”
In the first body paragraph, introduce yourself and your reason for writing. Be enthusiastic! Name the position you are seeking and how you heard about the job.
In the second body paragraph, explain why you want to work here and why you are a good candidate for the position. Summarize your skills, experience, or talent and why you are a great match.
In the closing paragraph, mention your application is enclosed and your desire to meet to discuss the job. Give information about your availability and your plan to follow up. Thank the employer!
Add an appropriate closing, such as “Sincerely,” followed by a comma.
Finally, add your signature or type your name when signing electronically.
