First and foremost, this portfolio is asking you to analyze the reasons for the fall of the Byzantine Empire. While navigating the slides in the next two lessons you will read about four specific causes that historians say led to their fall. Throughout these two lessons you will be making a multimedia presentation (I'm very flexible in this regard! You can do a PowerPoint, Prezi, Vimeo, Podcast, etc. If there is something else you are thinking about, feel free to ask!) about what you believe to be the most significant cause of their fall (if you would like to pair two of them together because you are undecided, that is fine!). Below are some of the things that you should include in your presentation. Title Slide Thesis Statement The thesis statement should support your argument regarding which cause was most impactful in bring about the end of the Byzantine Empire. Content Slides The content slides should look more specifically at the cause(s) you select. If, for example, you selected the Fourth Crusade you should dive deeper into what happened and the effect it had on the empire. Within the content slides you should include information from at least TWO sources. These can be primary or secondary sources. Consider using things like quotes, maps, artifacts, diaries, etc. (The EBSCO link within the lessons will be a great resource in finding sources!) You should also include some images within the content slides. This may of course overlap with the above point depending on your source selection. Conclusion Slide Wrap up your argument and tie it back to your thesis statement Bibliography MLA or APA format! Providing the URLs to your sources will not receive full credit! Exemptions!
