your formula makes no sense.
should be (y2 - y1) = m(x2 - x1)
so for the first question :
y - 3 = (2/3)(x - 3) , using the point (3,3)
3y - 9 = 2x - 6
2x - 3y = -3
now sub in the first point (6,y) to find y
12 - 3y = -3
-3y = -15
y = 5
Do the second question the same way.
Let me know what you get.
find the value of y so that the line passing through the two points has the given slope.
1. (6,y), (3,3). m=2/3
2. (8,y), (2,-3). m=1/2
I know the formula: y2-y1/m2-m1
and I've been trying to do this for a long time now, but I still don't get it.
please help. thanks!
