change in y/change in x for ANY two points
for the first problem for example first and last
(-1 - -4 ) / (3-0) = 3/3 = 1
for the second problem choose maybe the middle two
(2 - -1) / (1-0) = 3/1 = 3
check using last two points
(5-2) / (2-1) = 3/1 = 3 remarkable :)
