find the slope of the line

(1,-2) (3,2)
A. -2
B.2
C.-1/2
D.1/2

2 answers

m = tan θ = ( y2 - y1 ) / ( x2 - x1 )

In this case:

Coordinates of point 1 , x1 = 1 , y1 = - 2

Coordinates of point 2 , x2 = 3 , y1 = 2
___________________________
Remark:
( 1 , - 2 ) mean

x coordinate of point 1 , x1 = 1

y coordinate of point 1 , y1 = - 2

( 3 , 2 ) mean

x coordinate of point 2 , x2 = 3

y coordinate of point 2 , y2 = 2
_______________________________

m = ( y2 - y1 ) / ( x2 - x1 ) =

[ 2 - ( - 2 ) ] / (3 - 1) = ( 2 + 2 ) / 2 = 4 / 2 = 2
Thanx so much! :D
