Find the slope m of the tangent to the curve

y = 5/ sqrt (x) at the point where
x = a > 0.
what is the slope?

6 answers

y = 5x^(-1/2)
dy/dx = (-5/2)x^(-3/2)

so when x=a

slope = (-5/2)x^(-3/2)
the answer is -5/a^2
-5/(a)(2 sqrt a)
-5/2a^3/2
WRONG
