Find the relative extrema of the function f(x) = 1/2 x - sinx on the interval (0, 2 pie)

please show me how you got this!!

1 answer

same way you do it for anything else. Look for f'(x) = 0

f = x/2 - sinx
f' = 1/2 - cosx
f'=0 when cosx = 1/2, or x=pi/3, 5pi/3
