83, 96, 100, 100, 106=divided by 5=97
I did the
(83-97)+(96-97)+(100-97)+(100+97)=106-97)= I know I add than divide by 5 and I can not come up with Standard deviation. Where am I wrong.

The differences SQUARED
then take the square root, then divide by n
http://www.mathsisfun.com/data/standard-deviation-calculator.html
then divide by n
then take the square root
then take the square root
mean = 97 correct
difference and square of difference
-14 196
-1 1
3 9
3 9
9 81
sum of squares = 296
variance = 296/5 = 59.2
square root of variance = standard deviation = 7.69
difference and square of difference

9 81
sum of squares = 296
variance = 296/5 = 59.2
square root of variance = standard deviation = 7.69
