I can't display the figure obviously, but I figured 1 x cos(10) and 1 x sin(10) would give the two components I need, but I'm still getting the wrong answer.

Yes, assuming your vector is 10 degrees above the x axis in the first quadrant your answer is correct. Be sure you have it to 3 significant figures since both 1.00 and 10.00 are three significant figures.

1.00 cos 10.0 = 0.985
1.00 sin 10.0 = 0.174
