Based on what we learned in the unit and the excerpt, George Washington didn't really like political parties. He thought they would divide the country and cause problems. He believed that people should be united and work together, instead of being in different parties and fighting each other. Washington thought that political parties would focus on their own interests instead of what's best for the whole country. So, he wanted people to not make parties and just work together for a strong America.
