Could be b or d -- what does your text say?

i know its not a my text states that a series of questions can be an effective opener. i know b is wrong is well because startling statements can be used to capture a readers attention so im leaning on choice c or d.
I vote for c. It's the only one that doesn't mention getting the reader's interest.
im guessing it has to be c.
