Due to a reduction in price by 33.33%, a man gets 25 extra apples. If he spends 75 Rs, what is the reduced price per apple?

2 answers

original cost per apple ---- x
reduced cost per apple = (2/3)x = 2x/3

75/(2x/3) - 75/x = 25
225/(2x) - 75/x = 25
times 2x
225 - 150 = 50x
50x= 75
x = 75/50 = 1.5

The original price is 1.5 and the reduced price is (2/3)(1.5) = 1

check:
at 1.5 Rs, he can buy 75/1.5 or 50 apples
at 1 RS, he can buy 75/1 or 75 apples, which is 25 apples more.
My answer is correct.
isn't there any short method to calculate it's answer
