The East India company was back when the British Empire was spreading over the world. They sailed there.
I was alive when Gandhi was alive and working to form a free India.
When the British left, they split India into Muslim parts (Pakistan and Bangladesh) and a Hindu and other part (India), then they split for home.
I do not know about the textiles but India grew a lot of cotton. Now we often use nylon and dacron and stuff.
