does anyone have any good idea on how to learn subtacting decimals. where there is alot of borrowing involved?

Simplify the problem by adding a number to the number you are subtracting. After you obtain the answer, correct for that by adding that number, which you have subtrcted extra, back.

Subtracting decimals using the standard method taught in primary school is error prone if you have to deal with a lot of "borrowing". If you make a mistake, then that mistake will propagate to the next step.

Example:

Calculate 1232 - 878

Let's add to 878 the number 122 so that it becomes 1000. It is far easier to calculate 1232 - 1000 than 1232 - 878.

1232 - 1000 = 232

Of course, we have now subtracted an extra term of 122, so we have to add that to 232 to obtain the answer:

232 + 122 = 354
