Re: Mobile Device Security

Phones and tablets are being used more and more frequently for emails and access to REV data. Laptops access REV data via RPS, a system that creates a secure, private connection between the remote computer and the REV intranet. However, most mobile devices do not connect via RPS, making the data more vulnerable to hacking and other problems.

To protect REV information, REV has approved Mobile Device Security Standards and is implementing Remote Data Management (RDM) service.

On the evening of Monday, May 15, all REV staff will be migrated to RDM. After that change, you will no longer be able to access REV email and data through your device’s default applications. You will be able to install RDM on up to 5 devices to continue accessing REV email and data on your mobile device.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will RDM have access to my text messages, photos, and personal email accounts?

No. RDM will not capture, monitor, or log personal data, including text messages, photos, and personal email accounts. It is designed to protect and share only REV data and a few limited details about your device(s). RDM will not remove any of the team member’s personal data, even if it is used to wipe the device.

What should I do if my device is stolen or lost?

If your device is compromised, IT Services technicians will use RDM to remove all access to REV information assets and delete any REV data on the device. As soon as you realize your device is missing, call IT Services for technical support. After normal business hours, tell the answering service to inform the Data Management Crisis Unit. It is also your responsibility to inform your supervisor. If the mobile device was REV property, report the loss to Property Management as well.

Are there other times IT Services would use RDM to wipe a device?

IT Services technicians will use RDM when an employee leaves REV. At that time, all access to REV information assets on the mobile device(s) will be severed, and any REV data stored on the mobile device(s) will be removed.

Question
You work for REV, Incorporated. Based on the documents provided, what does RPS most likely stand for?

A.Responsive Policy Standards
B.Reaction Perspective Section
C.REV Process Service
D.Remote Private System
E.Ready Power Signal

1 answer

Based on the context of the documents provided, RPS most likely stands for D. Remote Private System. This is inferred from the description of how laptops access REV data via RPS, which creates a secure, private connection between the remote computer and the REV intranet. This aligns with the theme of remote access and security represented by RDM (Remote Data Management).
