Do you think there could have been civilization without the development of agriculture?

1 answer

It is difficult to determine for certain, but the development of agriculture played a crucial role in the rise of civilization. The transition from a nomadic hunter-gatherer lifestyle to settled agricultural communities provided a steady food supply, allowing people to have more permanent settlements, surplus of food, and specialization of tasks. Agriculture also led to the development of complex social structures, division of labor, and advancements in technology and arts. These factors eventually gave rise to civilization as we know it today.

While it is theoretically possible that another form of resource abundance or technological advancement could have led to the development of civilization without agriculture, it is generally accepted that agriculture was a key turning point in human history.
