(2013), around 13 million hectares of forests are lost annually, leading to adverse impacts on biodiversity, carbon emissions, and climate change. Another study by Hosonuma et al. (2012) highlights the role of deforestation in contributing to global warming and calls for urgent action to address this issue.

On a personal level, individuals can help combat deforestation by reducing paper and wood consumption, supporting sustainable forestry practices, and participating in reforestation efforts such as tree planting. The government can also play a crucial role in addressing deforestation by implementing policies to protect forests, promoting sustainable land use practices, and supporting initiatives for forest conservation and restoration. For example, Brazil has launched the Amazon Fund to finance projects aimed at reducing deforestation rates in the Amazon rainforest (Nepstad et al., 2013).

In addition to national efforts, international cooperation is essential to combat deforestation effectively. A study by Busch and Stickler (2013) emphasizes the importance of global partnerships and financial mechanisms to support forest conservation in developing countries. By taking collective action at both individual and governmental levels, we can work towards preserving our forests and mitigating the impacts of deforestation on the environment and society.
