Draw a spinner.
Circle the even numbers.
How many numbers out of the 5 possible are even?
Determine whether each event is impossible, unlikely, as likely as not, likely or certain. Then tell whether the probability is 0, close to 0, 1/2, close to 1, or 1.
Spinning a spinner that has 5 equal sections marked 1 through 5 and landing on an even number. I am a bit confused on this one.
The directions are find each probability. Write your answer in simplest form.
I am not sure on how to do this. Please help.

The probability is 0 because there are only 5 sides.
Is this correct?
Is this correct?
Please read the problem and Ms Pi's answer again.
No.
The places the spinner could land are 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 these are the five sections that would be on a circular spinner. Now the even numbers where it could land are the numbers 2 and 4. So there are TWO out of the FIVE sections that would give you an even number. 2 out of 5 is 2 divided by 5 x 100 or 40%
40% of the time you would spin the spinner and land on an even number.
So now what would your answer be?

Hello I just figured out 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 and that it is 2 out of 5.
I believe that the probability would be close to 0. If it were 50% then the probability would be 1/2 so my answer is close to 0.
The probability is 2 out of 5 or 2/5. That's not closest to 0.
2/5 = 4/10 = 40%
2/5 = 4/10 = 40%
Close to 1/2?
Yes, closest to 1/2.
Thank you Ms. Sue for helping me on this and making me understand this a bit better.
You are welcome Patrick.
