In still-life fruit drawing, the use of form is essential to give the subjects a three-dimensional quality and a realistic appearance. When drawing an orange, lemon, and lime, I focused on several key aspects of form that helped achieve this.

Shape Observation: I began by closely observing the basic shapes of each fruit. The orange is primarily spherical, while the lemon has an elongated oval shape, and the lime is similar but smaller and rounder. Understanding these shapes helps establish a foundation for the drawing.

Volume and Structure: To convey volume, I paid attention to how light interacts with the surfaces of the fruits. By identifying the light source, I determined where highlights and shadows would fall. The highlights on the smooth skin of the orange and lime are essential for suggesting their roundness, while the more subtle shading on the lemon helps illustrate its slightly bumpy texture.
