Ablution, or wudu, is the Islamic ritual washing before prayer. It is important for Muslims to perform ablution in order to purify themselves before communicating with Allah.

To perform ablution, a person follows these steps:

1. Intention: The person makes the intention in their heart to perform ablution for the purpose of prayer.
2. Saying Bismillah: The person begins by saying "Bismillah" (In the name of Allah). This is a way of seeking blessings and starting with the name of Allah.
3. Washing the hands: The person washes their hands three times, starting with the right hand and then the left.
4. Rinsing the mouth and nose: The person rinses their mouth three times and sniffs water into their nose and blows it out three times.
5. Washing the face: The person washes their face three times, from the hairline to the chin and from ear to ear.
6. Washing the arms: The person washes each arm up to the elbows three times, starting with the right arm and then the left.
7. Wiping the head: The person wipes their wet hands over their head once.
8. Washing the feet: The person washes each foot up to the ankles three times, starting with the right foot and then the left.
