All dreams come to an end, however, and this one ended explosively: the Phase Runner accident in an experimental research facility led to the creation of the Phase Rift (a massive bubble of Phase energy), and the Outlands' best and brightest quickly abandoned the city.
However, Olympus itself was maintained by advanced computer systems, so it quickly found new buyers in the Outlands' elite. For 40 years, it served as a lavish vacation spot with the Rift as a tourist attraction. Unfortunately, the Rift grew unstable over time, and Olympus was fully evacuated six months ago. Now, Hammond Robotics, with the support of the Mercenary Syndicate, has transformed Olympus into a new stage for the Apex Games – though why is anyone’s guess.
Season 9:
In 2734, the truth about the Phase Runner accident was revealed - it was the result of self-destruction to prevent the theft of a newly-discovered energy source known as branthium, and Pathfinder was responsible for ensuring its widespread distribution, ending the looming energy crisis and making the MRVN the hero of the Outlands. As a result, a statue in his likeness was installed, and a ceremony was to be held, resulting in many of the Outlands' citizens flocking to Olympus to attend.
Around the same time, the Icarus fleet, a group of scavenger ships (secretly sent by Torres Silva, CEO of Silva Pharmaceuticals), returned to the Outlands from an expedition to Typhon. The ships soon approached Olympus, with the fleet's flagship, the ICS Icarus, docking on the floating city. The ships carried a payload of volatile Medusa vines taken from Typhon's remains, which quickly proliferated, spreading a volatile antigen that resulted in an epidemic amongst the masses who had arrived for Pathfinder's ceremony. Thanks to the help of the Legends, the epidemic was stopped, and the growth of the Medusa vines was halted. Despite this, most of the vines were unable to be removed, being too heavily embedded in Olympus' infrastructure.
Season 12:
Sometime before Mad Maggie was sentenced to death by combat through the Apex Games, the Syndicate had the Phase Driver and its terminal installed in order to teleport the entire floating city if need be. However, the Phase Driver's programming was lackluster at best, and the systems maintaining it lacked even the most basic of firewalls. During Maggie's inaugural match, Silva was able to take advantage of this to hack into its systems and attempt to drop Olympus on the city of Malta. However, the emergency turbine systems managed to keep the city afloat before it could crash. Silva placed the blame for this on Maggie, establishing her as a "villain" in his ploy to take over the Syndicate.

Coincidentally, around the same period, the Icarus fleet, a fleet of scavenger ships secretly dispatched by Torres Silva, the CEO of Silva Pharmaceuticals, returned to the Outlands after their expansive voyage to Typhon. The fleet, including their prominent flagship, the ICS Icarus, approached Olympus and docked in the floating city. These ships transported a volatile payload of Medusa vines extracted from the remnants of Typhon. Unfortunately, the Medusa vines rapidly spread, unleashing a volatile antigen that triggered an epidemic among the masses gathered for Pathfinder's ceremony. With the assistance of the Legends, the epidemic was effectively contained, and the growth of the Medusa vines was brought to a halt. However, removing the majority of these vines proved challenging as they had deeply intertwined with Olympus' infrastructure.
