Convection: Heated air rises, becomes less dense, then cools. Cooler air becomes dense and then sinks. Convection currents in the atmosphere create wind as air moves. Convection currents in the oceans also move water toward the poles and equator affecting weather and climate due to the distribution of heat.
Electromagnetic Waves: Energy from the Sun that provides heat and light. Can be harmful to living things. Ultraviolet rays (UV) have three types: UVA, UVB, UVC. The ozone layer blocks some of these rays. UVB is most harmful to living things. UV rays affect the rate of photosynthesis and alter cells in organisms. They can cause sunburn, wrinkles, skin cancer, and eye problems.
