Convection example
1 answer
One example of convection is when hot air rises and cold air sinks, creating a convection current. This is commonly observed in a pot of boiling water. As the water heats up, the molecules become more energetic and move faster, causing them to spread out and become less dense. This hot water then rises to the top of the pot, creating a convection current. As it reaches the surface, it cools down and becomes more dense, causing it to sink back to the bottom of the pot. This cycle continues, creating a continuous flow of hot water rising and cold water sinking, which helps to evenly distribute heat throughout the pot.
