1 answer

1. Surrounding words or phrases: Context clues can be found in the words or phrases that are used before or after the unknown word. These surrounding words can provide hints or clues about the meaning of the unknown word.

2. Synonyms or antonyms: Context clues can also be found in words or phrases that are similar or opposite in meaning to the unknown word. If a synonym (a word with a similar meaning) is used, it can help the reader understand the unknown word. Similarly, if an antonym (a word with the opposite meaning) is used, it can also provide a clue to the meaning of the unknown word.

3. Explanation or definition: Sometimes, the writer may directly explain or define the unknown word within the sentence or passage. This can help the reader understand the meaning of the word without needing to look it up in a dictionary.
