Comparing Einstein's and Newton's theories of gravitation, can the correspondence principle be applied? and Why or Why not?

a)Yes
b)No

1 answer

Ans. a)YES
Correspondence principle in general says that any new physical theory (or any scientific theory) must reproduce the correct results of the old theory.
In the case of Einstein's theory of gravity (general relativity), when you have small gravitational fields with nothing moving too fast compared to the speed of light, for example, describing orbits of satellites around Earth, it should agree with the old theory of gravity, and it does, and that's why it obeys the correspondence principle.
