Choose a film, as most of you already did, and focus on one theme that resides throughout the film. If you feel ambitious, then you can choose several themes to discuss in your paper; however, make sure you connect the themes to each other (if I signed off on your thesis, then your themes are fine to use). Make sure you are NOT giving a book report/ movie review on the film. Instead, you are to analyze the different manners in which the theme/ themes you are focusing on are presented to the audience. Remember, you can look at historical references, director commentaries, articles read in class, or discussions had in class to assist with your development of your essay. This essay to be 3 pages in length. Ensure to use the Rubric to assist you with your essay. If you have any further questions, then please stop by my office on Friday after class to further clarify the assignment. The essay is due Monday, October 26th. You mus submit an electronic version on CANVAS in the "Assignments" section and a hard copy in class by 1pm.
