ww1: the country moved from an agricultural to a manufacturing society. Segregation was in full swing and blacks male/female did not participate to any great extent. White women started to move out of the home into industry, they began to smoke, fought for the right to vote Discrimination existed against Jews and Catholics also. Yes, to specific movements, The Womens Christian Temperance League against Liquor for one.
