depends, if it's like this one:

Because she broke her leg, she was not able to run the race.

Yes, you can start a sentence with <i>because</i> as long as the sentence also has an independent clause.

Examples:

Because of the rain, we postponed the picnic.

Because her boyfriend was coming to dinner, Dana prepared his favorite foods.
